Opera Holland Park returns for a dazzling 2023 season

News worth bursting into song for

Opera Holland Park’s 2023 Season opens on Tuesday 30 May, in its customary canopied, open-air setting of the manicured gardens and untamed woodlands of Holland Park.

To mark the occasion and herald the long-awaited return of Spring, the film of Puccini’s Le Villi - the star production of the 2022 season - will be broadcast at 7pm on 20 March to Opera Holland Park’s Members and Supporters via the website, and at 7pm on 21 March to the general public. A link will be made available on the day of the broadcast.

The haunting 'villi' are the spirits of jilted or abandoned brides, who return to their faithless suitors and dance them to their deaths. Produced by Martin Lloyd Evans, Le Villi was described in The Guardian as ‘very creepy and thoroughly entertaining.'

The 2023 season will feature new productions of Verdi's Rigoletto; Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel and Puccini's La bohème. Audiences can also look forward to the world premiere of Jonathan Dove's Itch, which has been commissioned by Opera Holland Park, as well as Gilbert & Sullivan's Ruddigore, in a co-production with Charles Court Opera.

The City of London Sinfonia returns as resident orchestra for all five productions. See below for booking dates.
